ESTC13: Nairobi, Kenya, September 2013

ESTC13 in TIES' "Birthplace"

On Wednesday, September 19th, TIES and its partners announced Kenya as the host destination of the ESTC13. In addition to its natural appeals, Kenya offers a unique opportunity for TIES and its global network of members to reflect on ecotourism's history, evolution and future.

It was in Kenya - in Amboseli National Park - that TIES was born. In 1989, TIES founder Megan Epler Wood met with Dr. David Western, one of the earliest advocates for ecotourism, who supported the vision and became the founding chair of this new organization.
