Lowcountry Leadership in Sustainability

Session Description
This roundtable session, facilitated by Experience Green, is organized by local sustainability leaders and organizations and brings together regional stakeholders to share examples and tools to inspire progress in sustainability initiatives and practices. The session will launch an ongoing platform for collaboration and dialogue in the Lowcountry region. Topics include: Stakeholder Engagement; Guidance and Support; Goals and Measurement; Value Creation; Top Down vs. Bottom Up.
Session Facilitators
Teresa Wade, Executive Director, Experience Green
Teresa Wade is passionate about helping others "leave the right impression" on the natural and business environment, while achieving sustainable success. As principal of Sustainable Solutions, her team assists organizations implement sustainability initiatives that are credible, measurable and profitable. She recently founded Experience Green, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization on Hilton Head Island providing experiential sustainability education. Teresa holds an MBA from Belmont University, a Certification of Graduate Studies in Sustainability from the Institute for Sustainable Practice at Lipscomb University.
Denise Grabowski, Principal, Symbioscity
Denise R. Grabowski, AICP, LEED AP, launched Symbioscity as a reflection of interests in the relationships between the built and natural environments. With over 15 years of experience, Denise has worked as a senior-level planner for local governments and as a consultant for the public and private sectors. Denise is a regular speaker at local, regional, and national events, for groups such as the American Planning Association, National League of Cities and the Georgia Planning Association. She is a founding member of the U.S. Green Building Council Georgia Chapter, and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Session Goals
This session aims to create an environment for discussion among regional stakeholders regarding ideas, opportunities, successes, methods, and resources related to leadership, launch, and success of sustainability initiatives. The effort will identify participants for an ongoing roundtable network for collaboration and information exchange to further community, profit and nonprofit organizations, and government sustainability efforts in the Lowcountry. All attendees are invited to participate in the focused, interactive discussion, and will gain valuable insight and inspiration to support sustainable practices, evoke action, and accomplish success with initiatives in their sphere of influence.
