About the ESTC 2010
Organized by The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), and co-hosted by Travel Portland and Travel Oregon, the ESTC 2010 was held from September 8-10, 2010 in Portland, Oregon, a leading U.S. city that has been consistently rated “the most sustainable city” in the country.

Sam Adams - Mayor, Portland, OregonThe Portland Tribune called Sam Adams "The council’s most vocal advocate for public arts, neighborhoods, diversity, transportation, economic development, and transparency and accountability in government." In his role as Mayor, Sam is the lead Council member on Economic Development, Planning and Sustainability, Education, Arts and Culture, and Transportation. As a City Commissioner, he was Commissioner in Charge of Portland’s Office of Transportation and the Bureau of Environmental Services, among other responsibilities.

Rick Ridgeway - VP of Environmental Initiatives, PatagoniaRick Ridgeway oversees Patagonia's environmental grant-making, environmental education, and multi-year environmental projects. Rick, along with three companions, became the first American to summit K2, and he has done many other significant climbs and explorations on all of the world's continents. He is the author of six books, including the highly acclaimed The Shadow of Kilimanjaro and Below Another Sky. Rick is Board Chairman of Freedom to Roam Coalition, a broad coalition committed to the protection of wildlife corridors and connected landscapes.

Bruce Poon Tip - Founder, Gap AdventuresIn 1990, Bruce Poon Tip founded Gap Adventures in order to deliver an authentic travel experience to travelers. Since then, Gap Adventures has become a world leader in adventure travel, offering more than 1,000 small group experiences on all seven continents. In recognition of this dedication to ethical business practices, Gap Adventures has been awarded the 2009 Travel+Leisure's Global Vision Leadership Award for voluntourism. Bruce has been honored twice with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
